. it is make a difference day. more than 1,500 people, including including wkyc employees are registered participate in 55 different volunteer projects. melissa is getting a jump start this morning and join us from the cleveland kids resource center. >> this is where we are going to be sorting school supplies for students that are involved with low income classrooms. that number that you mentioned, if you equate that, it ends up being about 4,000 hours of work

the community. here with us this morning is brian. of what does your organization do. >> we help businesses increase their volunteer and get engaged by becoming board members, using their skills, do pro bone owe consulting -- pro bonoconsulting. >> how did we work with you for make a difference day. >> we have ,500 volunteers that are involved t still use volunteers and go on to the bvu website to find out opportunities. you are able to have a quick day of high impact work like you're doing here at this organization. >> reporter: you've been a part of this year after year too. what is the impact really that you've seen. >> well, for the organizations, it's huge. basically they've got free labor coming in. more importantly it introduces people to a non profit sector.

mid, and upper 40s. meanwhile lake temperatur 63 degrees. it's one of the reasons we are seeing the lake effect showers this morning. notice that winds sustain generally between say 15 to 25 miles-an-hour. gusting at times though over 30 miles-an-hour downtown. you can certainly feel it. and on top of all that, we're also tracking again those lake effect showers from lake county into ka ga county into middle field. further towards the west, ban bridge, cleveland all seeing some of those showers. stretching all the way down 77 into an krom -- aing ron in towards -- ankron in towards con ton. we'll continue to hold on to those lake effect showers through the morning and through the better half of the early afternoon. as we mentioned by sunday, so

with us this morning, kathy is the co-founder and board member here at cleveland kids in need resource center. what does this organization provide the community. >> we provide free school supplies to teachers that teach throughout ka ga county at schools that are impoverished which means that 65% of the kids are on the federal funding lunch program. we are part of a national we were able to h,100 teacher visits where the teachers come and shop for free. >> people dough -- >> reporter: people donate these and how do they get on the shelf. >> the product is donated a couple of different ways. we are part of the national foundation so when the national foundation gets supplies they make us aware of it. we can get it through the

east tracking a few of those showers. that area of low pressure will continue to slip and slide towards the east. and then sunday, although there is a little lull in activity sunday during the afternoon hours, but sunday evening into early monday, it's that cold front right there which will provide us with another round of showers. let's time it all out for you. i think that now through about lunch time, again, we're mostly cloudy. scattered showers in the mix. i think that through the afternoon we'll continue te the east with that departing area of low pressure. we mngs d before that on sunday evening it's going to be another good chance for some showers. well, here it is. you'll see it move right on through. sunday evening right around the 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. hour, i think we'll see more of those splash and dash showers move on through so heads up for totherwise, temperatures basically stuck in

. it is 6 on this saturday october 22nd. we are starting out a little dark out there. the sun is coming up later and later. kick back, relax. it is not the type of morning to rush out the door if you don't have to. it's a little bit chilly and wet out there. michael is in with a check of the forecast. it really is starting to feel like fall. i have leaves all over my yard. >> and you'll have to get out there and rake them up soon.
